My name is Honggang (Paul) Wang, and I am the owner of Unit 1177, Tower One, at Southport Central Residential. I am nominating for the position of treasurer and ordinary committee member on the body corporate committee.
If elected, I will focus on providing transparent financial management to the management of body corporate finances, and making practical, cost-effective decisions for all owners.
I bring to the body corporate more than 25 years of hands-on experience in the property industry, covering both sales and rentals. For the past 10 years, I have run an onsite management business which has given me extensive exposure to body corporate matters, committee decision-making, and the day-to-day running of residential complexes.
I believe I am well suited to the role of treasurer due to:
* My strong financial grounding: I personally own five properties, all fully paid. I understand budgeting, levy management, and the importance of long-term financial planning.
* Practical body corporate experience: I regularly deal with body corporate and committee issues, so I’m familiar with the legislation, meeting procedures, and what it takes to keep a complex running smoothly.
* Hands-on project management: I help multiple complexes organise tradespeople, obtain competitive quotes, and project-manage large-scale upgrade renovations. I know how to protect owners’ money and deliver value.
* My qualifications: I hold a Master’s degree from the University of Canberra.
I thoroughly support the aims of the community team running for election at this year’s AGM. They want to rein in what has been excessive spending on some matters so we can keep levies low, but not at the expense of necessary maintenance. The transparent operation of the body corporate’s finances are essential to ensuring owners money is spent carefully and wisely.
Owners need to have confidence that their levy money is in safe hands and won’t be spent on unnecessary pursuits.
